I am Lilly Pilly Firescreen. My family originated from Eastern Australia
| I am a compact, fast growing shrub with coppery red new growth, and a dense growth habit from the ground up making an excellent choice for hedging. Particularly low maintenance I have good from without the need for clipping but respond well to pruning and can be formally hedged to great effect. I naturally grow to around 4 metres high and a metre and a half wide, but am easily maintained at smaller dimensions if desired. I tolerate a wide range of soils but will perform at my best in consistently moist well drained soil in a sunny to semi shaded position. I tolerate dry periods well once established. I am rarely affected by pests, diseases and am resistant to psyllids. I benefit from a an application of a quality slow release fertiliser for natives in spring which is best accompanied by regular moisture to promote growth. |
