I am Galaxia Cast Iron Plant. My family originated from East and South East Asia

Botanic Name: Aspidistra elatior ‘Galaxia’

Strappy/Grasses – Unique Foliage

My dark green leaves are brightly speckled making me a beautiful Aspidistra – one that will brighten even the darkest corners.

I am known as the Cast Iron Plant due to my hardy and almost indestructible nature. Slow growing but very low maintenance I tolerate very low light levels making me the perfect indoor plant for poorly lit corners. I am possibly the toughest indoor plant looking great year round and thriving on neglect.

I am also perfect for indoors due to my air purifying qualities.

I have small inconspicuous cream to dark purple flowers in spring/summer which grow directly from my creeping rhizome.

In the garden I am also low maintenance making me useful in borders and understorey plantings in sheltered areas.

I perform best in free-draining soil and positioned away from hot windows, dry-condition units and direct sunlight.

To keep me looking good, feed me in autumn and spring with slow-release fertiliser.
