I am Dragon Head Bamboo. My family originated from western China
| I feature stems that age to a dark purple nearly black which contrast beautifully with my lush green foliage.
I am a non-invasive clump-forming bamboo that grows to a height of around 2.5 to 1.5 metres. Upright when young my canes will arch under the weight of my foliage as I age. I am fast growing creating a dense curtain of vegetation ideal for screening. I am a good choice for container planting where my upright and gently curved habit will enhance a paved space. I will perform at my best provided with consistent moisture in a neutral pH soil. I dislike alkaline limey soils. I am low maintenance clumping bamboo easy to grow and very hardy. |
