Hardenbergia Sea of Purple 180MM

Hardenbergia ‘Sea of Purple’ – 180MM

(Not currently available to be ordered)

I am Native Sarsaparilla. My family originated from eastern Australia

Botanic Name: Hardenbergia violacea ‘Sea of Purple’

Ground Cover – Colourful Groundcover

I am a fast growing native ground cover dense habit, spectacularly smothered in dark purple flowers from late winter until early spring.

Other forms of Native Sarsaparilla are typically climbers or even an upright bush but ‘Sea of Purple’ is naturally a spreading ground cover well suited trailing over retaining walls and from hanging baskets.

I am hardy and adaptable but for best results plant me in full sun or part shade position. I perform well in most soils but am happiest in light clays and free draining soils.

My clusters or small pea like flowers are a magnet for butterflies, native bees and other beneficial insects.

Being a member of the pea family I improve the soil by fixing nitrogen benefiting other plants.
