I am White Wave Tea Tree. My family originated from Australia

Botanic Name: Leptospermum laevigatum ‘White Wave’

Mounding – Hardy and Low Maintenance

I am a low growing form of Coastal Tea tree with a flowing cascading habit, a sea of white when I flower in spring.

I am a tough native plant with grey-green foliage and bronze coloured new growth.

I am a great new alternative as a hedge or informal screen plant for difficult conditions, such as coastal areas and exposed locations.

I thrive in conditions that would kill many alternative hedge plant options.

I am a great native alternative to English and Euonymus box hedges.

I am drought tolerant but should be watered in well during the first couple of months after planting.

My cascading means I work well over retaining walls, planted in containers for small spaces such as patios and courtyards.

Full Sun to Part Shade (4+ hours of direct sun)
Height: 0.5m Width: 1.2m
(Can be kept trimmed to Height: 0.4m Width: 0.5m)
I need low water once established
Bird Attracting
I am hardy and suitable for coastal planting. I am happy in most soils but prefer soils that are well drained
I am popular and will make you happy because…
My masses of white flowers in spring and cascading habit give me the appearance of a foamy white wave
I am frost and drought resistant and suitable to cool temperate to sub-tropical climates
I attract bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other beneficial native insects to the garden

    Plant me:

  • in pots and other containers
  • in garden beds and general landscaping
  • to be cut flowers to be enjoyed indoors
  • as a screening hedge
  • in coastal conditions

Tips for success…

Plant me in tubs and other containers or in rockeries and on retaining walls to appreciate my flowing form
Plant me 80cm apart
