I am a succulent with year round beautiful deep purple to black colour creating great contrast in the garden. My very symmetrical geometric rosette form adds an architectural element wherever it is planted. Thriving on neglect I have a naturally tidy habit requiring minimal maintenance to consistently look great. I have a slow spread habit producing baby rosettes from underneath the main rosette. This leads to one of my common names being “Hen and Chickens” as the baby rosettes appear as if hiding under the wings of the parent plant. I am just as happy growing in a pot indoors in a well-lit area or outdoors in full sun. The intensity of my Onyx colour will be enhanced by growing me in bright locations. I need a free draining soil or potting mix to perform at my best. I am particularly tolerant of frost and dry conditions.
