🌿 Casual Nursery Hand – Dromana

Location: Dromana
Employment Type: Casual
Award: Nursery Award – Level 1A

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Nursery Hand to join our team. This role involves assisting with plant production, stock preparation, and general nursery operations to support the quality and presentation of plants across the nursery.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys physical outdoor work and working as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Watering and general plant maintenance
  • Weeding and maintaining nursery areas
  • Trimming and staking plants to maintain presentation
  • Assisting with potting and plant production tasks
  • Loading and operating potting machines
  • Hand potting where required
  • Preparing stock including labelling and barcoding plants
  • Organising and moving plant stock within the nursery
  • Staging plants and trays for nursery operations
  • Maintaining clean, safe, and organised work areas
  • Safely operating nursery carts or small electric vehicles where required

 About You

  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Able to perform physical work including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Previous nursery, horticulture, or farm experience is an advantage but not essen

🌿 Dispatch Forklift Operator & Nursery Hand – Dromana

Location: Dromana
Employment Type: Casual
Award: Nursery Award – Level 1A

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable Dispatch Forklift Operator & Nursery Hand to join our busy nursery operations team. This is a hands-on role involving forklift operation, order preparation, and manual handling in a fast-paced dispatch environment.

Key responsibilities include safely moving and preparing plant stock for dispatch, ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficiency while supporting broader nursery and production activities.

Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role safely, including lifting, bending, twisting and operating a forklift. Training and support will be provided, and reasonable adjustments can be considered where appropriate.

This role suits someone who can work independently, follows safety procedures, and takes pride in attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts safely to move plant stock throughout the nursery and dispatch areas
  • Repeatedly lift and transfer plant trays (up to 12 kg per tray) from forklifts to rollers, trolleys, and stillages
  • Pick, pack, label, and prepare orders accurately for dispatch
  • Load and unload delivery trucks
  • Organise dispatch trolleys and meet daily schedules and deadlines
  • Use digital tools (scanners, iPads, dispatch systems) to process orders
  • Assist with general nursery duties, production lines, potting, spacing, staking, and plant care
  • Maintain clean, safe, and hazard-free work areas

Physical & Manual Handling Requirements

Repetitive lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and standing
Regularly lifting trays weighing up to 12 kg
Comfortable with sustained physical labour in indoor and outdoor environments

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Current LF Forklift Licence
  • Experienced Forklift driver, outdoor driving preferred.
  • Comfortable and capable of performing the physical tasks of the role, including safe lifting, bending, and handling of nursery stock.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Able to work independently and show initiative
  • Strong attention to detail and order accuracy
  • Confident using digital tools
  • Good communication and time-management skills

Preferred

  • Experience in nursery, horticulture, dispatch, logistics, or production environments
