Heath Banksia 200MM

Banksia ericifolia 'Red Alert'

I am Heath Banksia. My family originated from Eastern Australia.

Habit Shrub - Large Bird Attracting Blooms
Plant family Proteaceae
A smaller growing form of Banksia ericifolia. I am an evergreen native shrub with fine linear bright green leaves and produce spectacular cylindrical red flower cones up to 20cm tall and 8cm wide from spring to autumn. My dense habit provides excellent habitat for birds and makes me a good screening option. I enjoy well drained soils. I can be pruned to shape if required or cut back hard to regenerate. My flowers are rich in nectar attracting birds and beneficial insects alike.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
I produce elegant and prominant red, cone shaped flowers from winter through spring
Naturally dense and bushy I am suited to being a habitat creating native screening hedge
My prolific blooms attract honey eaters and other small nectar feeding birds
