My Sweet 16 Wax Flower 180MM

Chamelaucium hybrid 'My Sweet 16'

I am My Sweet 16 Wax Flower. My family originated from South Western Australia.

Habit Shrub - My white blooms change to pink & red
Plant family Myrtaceae
Known as a ‘Wax Flower’ I am a stunning native shrub that produces a profusion of buds during winter which open to pure white flowers during spring. My flowers become red as they age, allowing you to enjoy various shades of white, pink, and red. Happy in most free draining soils I enjoy a sunny aspect but tolerate lightly shaded locations. I have a rounded form with fine bright green needle-like foliage. My blooms are long-lived when cut making me very popular as a cut flower particularly as a filler in floral arrangements. I am low maintenance but will benefit from a prune to shape after I finish flowering and an application of a native slow-release fertiliser as the weather warms in spring. I am drought tolerant once established and cope well with coastal conditions. Given my stunning floral displays and low-fuss nature, you will enjoy me in your garden and to decorate your home.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
Long flowering I produce masses of white flowers in spring that slowly mature to shades of pink then red
My long lived flowers perform well when cut to be enjoyed indoors
I am suitable for use as a screening plant
