Grey Cottonhead 180MM

Conostylis candicans 'Silver Sunrise'

I am Grey Cottonhead. My family originated from Western Australia.

Habit Strappy - Dry tolerant
Plant family Haemodoraceae
An Australian native related to kangaroo paws I am a low clumping plant with bright silver grass-like foliage and golden yellow balls of flowers through spring and into summer. Adaptable with my silvery bright appearance I am a great choice for pots, mass planted, as edging ground cover in borders and water wise gardens. I am hardy tolerating dry conditions and light frosts. I am long lived and low maintenance. Happiest in full sun and growing in sandy loam but I tolerate almost any soil that provides reasonable drainage. Trim off spent flower heads and older leaves after flowering to help me maintain my showy appearance.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
I produce clusters of bright yellow flowers in spring and summer
My flowers are attractive to both native bees and butterflies
I am frost hardy and drought tolerant
