Daphne 180MM

Daphne odora

I am Daphne. My family originated from South East Asia.

Habit Shrub - Fragrant Flowers
Plant family Thymelaeaceae
I am a wonderful combination of an attractive shrub with divinely perfumed flowers often considered as a must have by many gardeners. My blooms are borne as clusters of pale pink to white flowers with darker centres. My compact form and prolific flowering, mainly during the cooler months and spot flowering at other times, adds atmosphere to the garden year round. I am happiest in a semi-shaded spot where I am protected from frosts, strong winds and hot afternoon sun in summer. Avoid dense shade, which will inhibit flowering. Requiring a neutral to acidic soil, consistent moisture and minimal root disturbance I am a little fussy about growing conditions but otherwise thrive with minimal maintenance.
Caution: Harmful if eaten/skin irritant.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
I produce numerous clusters of star shaped white to pink flowers from mid winter to spring
I grow well in pots, a great way to bring winter colour and fragrance to patios and paved areas
My blooms make an excellent cut flower allowing my colour and fragrance to be enjoyed indoors
