I am a low spreading, compact ground cover and I flower for longer than other forms of Hardenbergia. From winter through spring I cover myself in a prolific mass of rich purple, pea-shaped flowers, bringing colour and nectar for pollinators through the cooler months. Plant me where you want a carpet of purple through winter and spring, in a large landscape or a small garden bed. I spread low and wide, so I suit ground cover plantings and understorey areas. I grow well in full sun or part shade and adapt to most well-drained soils, from quite acid to alkaline. Once I am established I tolerate dry spells and light frost and need very little care, though I will appreciate a drink through long dry periods. Feed me with a slow-release, low phosphorus fertiliser to get me started, and mulch around my base to hold moisture and keep weeds down.
