Candy Cones Conebush 180MM

Isopogon formosus 'CandyCones'

I am Candy Cones Conebush. My family originated from South Western Australia.

Habit Shrub - Bird and bee attracting
Plant family Proteaceae
I feature unusual large mauve to pink cone flowers surrounded by frilly stamens which stand out brilliantly by my elegant dark green foliage. My flowers are striking and long lived creating a long lasting display. An Australian Native I am popular in native and dry tolerant gardens where I make a great feature. Hardy I am a good choice for coastal gardens and exposed locations. I am generally very low maintenance but dead heading of spent blooms will add to my vigour and improve bushiness. I perform well most neutral to acidic free draining soils and quality potting mixes. I benefit from a feed in spring with a quality slow release native fertiliser particularly if container grown. I make a great cut flower.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
My mauve flowers have fine petals around a central cone from mid winter to early summer
My flowers attract native bees and beneficial insects
I am a hardy and unique Australian plant with unusual blooms and architectural foliage
