French lavender 140MM

Lavandula dentata

I am French lavender. My family originated from the Mediterranean and Middle East.

Habit Shrub - Long Flowering
Plant family Lamiaceae
I am a popular evergreen shrub with aromatic, silvery-grey foliage and spikes of mauve-purple, fragrant flowers borne above the foliage for most of the year. A favourite for drier locations where my perfume is more pronounced. I benefit from a light trim and dead heading of my spent flowers to promote a compact shape and encourage blooming. I attract bees and beneficial insects. A favourite for borders and beside path ways I am often planted in rows to create a low hedge. My dried blooms can be sewn into small pillows which are often placed in drawers with clothing to make them smell nice and deter moths.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
I have a very fragrant silver-grey foliage
My mauve-purple flower spikes are born on upright stems above the foliage for most of the year
Great for borders, in pots, garden beds, mass planted and beside pathways allowing my fragrance to be enjoyed
