Metrosideros Velvet Sky 180MM

Metrosideros collina Velvet Sky 'MB01'

I am Metrosideros Velvet Sky. My family originated from French Polynesia and the Cook Islands.

Habit Shrub - Feature Tree

Plant family Myrtaceae

I have amazing inky blue stems and beautiful blue velvet foliage. I have an excellent compact form and dense growth habit making me an excellent choice for screening hedges. I make a real statement as a hedging plant. I produce stunning red flowers that contrast beautifully with my blue foliage in the height of summer around Christmas time attracting nectar feeding birds and wildlife. Plant me in lightly shaded areas for even more vibrant inky blue stems.

I am popular and will make you happy because...

Hardy and compact I make a great screening hedge or windbreak particularly in exposed locations

My crimson flowers pop beautifully against my blue foliage with peak blooming in early summer

I attract small nectar feeding birds like honey eaters and spinebills for which I provide food and habitat
