Kalamata Olive 200MM

Olea europaea 'Kalamata'

I am Kalamata Olive. My family originated from northern Greece.

Habit Tree - Most Popular Table Olive
Plant family Oleaceae
I am a one of the world’s most popular table olives prized for my intense flavour compared to other varieties of black olive. I also contain lots of healthy fats (especially monounsaturated fats), minerals, vitamin E, and other antioxidants. I respond well to pruning and can be easily maintained at heights ranging from 2-8m tall with an annual cutback. I have dark glossy green leaves with silver under sides. I am a very hardy tree that thrives in Mediterranean conditions and looks great as a feature specimen, avenue or hedge. I can also be trained to grow as an espalier or a standard tree. I am a great choice for an ornamental screening hedge with the bonus of a bountiful harvest.
I am popular and will make you happy because...
Ripening in autumn I am prized for my intense flavour making me the most popular of table olives
I make a great screening hedge or windbreak particularly in exposed locations
Tolerant of frost, dry conditions & extremes of temperature, I am suited to exposed and coastal locations
