Light suitability: Full Sun to Full Shade (6+ hours direct sun to no direct sun). Consider local heat, wind and seasonal shade, and follow any more specific advice on the plant label.
I have low maintenance needs, but still appreciate a little attention. Observe the plant’s shape and new growth through the seasons, remove damaged material with clean tools and refresh the mulch when needed without piling it against the stem.
Pruning: Trim off spent flower heads and older leaves after flowering to help me maintain my showy appearance.
Watering: Even after I am established, check the soil at root depth periodically. Water slowly and deeply during extended dry periods and unusually hot or windy weather rather than watering frequently and shallowly. Monitor moisture more closely while the roots are still spreading into the surrounding soil.
