I am Cast Iron Plant. My family originated from East and South East Asia

Botanic Name: Aspidistra elatior

Clumping/Strappy – Hardy and Low Maintenance

I am known as the ‘Cast Iron Plant’ due to my hardy and almost indestructible nature.

I grow as long stemmed deep green leaves from a creeping rhizome.

I have small inconspicuous cream to dark purple flowers in spring/summer.

Shade loving, I am possibly the toughest indoor plant looking great in even the heaviest shade and thriving on neglect.

In the garden I am useful in borders and understory plantings. I am very low maintenance.

Part to Full Shade (morning or filtered sun for 4-6 hours, to no direct sun)
