I am Bougainvillea. My family originated from South America
| I am a family of vigorous climbing plants with tiny flowers year round but am characterised by my showy bracts in a broad range of vibrant colours.
I do best when provided with a structure to climb on like a trellis or pergola but will become a ground cover if not provided with something to climb. I come in a range of varieties some of which remain small and are suited to container planting and others bigger and more vigorous which will quickly cover a fence to create a colourful screening hedge. I respond well to pruning to the extent that I can be an interesting bonsai specimen. Hardy to most conditions but will perform at my best in full sun. |
