Laurus ‘Baby Bay Dwarf Bay Tree’ – 180MM

(Not currently available to be ordered)

I am Dwarf Bay Tree. My family originated from the Mediterranean

Botanic Name: Laurus nobilis ‘BabyBay’

Tree – Culinary Herb

I am a smaller growing Bay Tree with a compact habit particularly well suited to container planting and where space is limited. My fragrant dark green glossy foliage is popular as culinary herb in a range of cuisines. I rapidly grow to 2 metres but can be maintained at a smaller size with pruning making me a good choice for borders and small hedges. I produce masses of fluffy yellow blooms from late winter into spring. I am incredibly hardy tolerating frost, dry conditions, exposed locations and coastal conditions.

Full Sun to Part Shade (4+ hours of direct sun)
Height: 1.5m Width: 1m
(Can be kept trimmed to Height: 0.8m Width: 0.7m)
I need minimal water once established
Great for Pots
I perform well in most soils but do best in those that are fertile and free draining or premium potting mix
I am popular and will make you happy because…
My aromatic leaves feature in the Mediterranean, French and North American cooking
My low growing form suits me to growing in a pot or container ideal for patio or outdoor kitchen
I am ideal as low maintenance screening hedge either informal or clipped as I respond well to pruning

    Plant me:

  • in pots and other containers
  • in garden beds and general landscaping
  • in fragrant and sensory gardens
  • as a screening hedge

Tips for success…

I am a good choice for coastal conditions being tolerant of salt, frost, dry and exposed locations
